The GP Adrie van Der Poel is a cyclocross race that is organized annually in the Dutch town of Hoogerheide. Cyclocross first came to Hoogerheide in 2000, a special race for Adrie van der Poel who was retiring from a very successful career, so his entire family got to go on stage with him. His boys seemed to like that as Mathieu got on the podium 5 more times as the winner in more recent years.
The course is the same as previous years, lots of up and downs and the big set of stairs in the middle of the course, but overall a very fast course. It's been one of the more exciting races just before the Worlds. In 2009 and 2014, the cyclocross world championship was held on this course.
Let’s have a look at what goes down at the Men’s race. Heading into the 2022 Hoogerheide World Cup, the last stop of the 15-race series, all eyes are on the only one of the “Big Three” here in Hoogerheide, Tom Pidcock.
In the men's race, Iserbyt took the win in Hoogerheide.
The Belgian, who was already certain of the overall victory in the World Cup, was two seconds ahead of Dutch champion Van der Haar. Tom Pidcock finished third just behind the pair, ahead of Michael Vanthourenhout.
The injured Mathieu van der Poel was missing in Hoogerheide and will not be able to defend his world title in Fayetteville next week. Wout van Aert was also not present in Hoogerheide as he skips the World Championships.
